In this, the flagship program from Oak & Nettle Earth Skills, you will jump into (or back into) the world of Bushcraft, Earth skills, Foraging, and Wilderness Survival. We have catered our monthly service into a 6 part monthly series designed to help you get outside and enjoy the challenge and rewards of using your own hands to create tools, food, and fun in the great outdoors. Each family friendly unit contains a class for our kiddos. It is insight and techniques to share the skills with your child or children. In the kids unit we will use plain language, colors, and pictures to explain concepts, and show you how to get your kids involved in wilderness skill safely and in a way to build a lifetime of experience. Each month will contain: A skill. This could be making string from plants, or flint and steel fire making, or how to safely use an axe. It could also be projects to complete with your new skills. Things like spruce top whisks, stools, or Wooden spoons. A technical skill, this could be something like how to sharpen a knife or axe. Or how to maintain wool or leather gear. material. We will do our best to relate the plant to the skill of the month. A knot. Each lesson will include a knot that relates to the skill at hand. Knots and cordage are really important in the bush. A plant. Each month we will cover one plant. The plants may be a food, A medicine, or a building material. We will do our best each month to choose a plant that relates to the skill of the month. A Story. Each month one of our experience forest guides will regale you with a story of our adventures. Finally the kiddos corner. Each month you will receive a video lesson on sharing these skills with your kids. Each block of classes will contain a PDF that will outline the lessons. Introduce the concepts, terms, and safety tips of the month. We will also include links to any tools that we use in the videos. and ideas for getting your kids off of their screens and into real life.
